Abstract
Purpose: We performed cauterization and suturing for the correction of conjunctivochalasis and evaluated the efficacy of the treatment.

Methods: Four eyes three patients with conjunctivochalasis were treated with cauterization and suturing. After opening eyelids, loosened bulbar conjunctiva was pulled down tensely. After local anesthesia near inferior fornix (at a site about 8 mm below limbus), bulbar conjunctiva and Tenon¡¯s capsule was gripped all together by bipolar cautery (UM 150A). The cauterization was performed for one second. Still gripped by the bipolar cautery, bulbar conjunctiva and Tenon¡¯s capsule was fixed to sclera with Vicryl 6-0. The identical procedures were performed on two another sites along inferior fornix. The sutures were stitched out 10 days after surgery.

Results: The objects were four eyes three patients (one male, two females with average age 67 years). We observed successful outcomes in all cases without postoperative recurrence, or complications caused by cauterization over 6 months after surgery.

Conclusions: We successfully treated conjunctivochalasis with a simple procedure of conjunctival fixation to sclera using cauterization and suturing.
